Mykola Tomenko: It is Necessary to prohibit Gambling Business of Chernovetsky Team
Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, forwarded the appeal to the Head of the Temporary Inquiry Panel of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine set up to investigate the circumstances of violation of the Constitution of Ukraine and Ukrainian Laws, adoption of illegitimate resolutions by the officials of Kyiv City Council and its executive body with a request "to pay attention to the immoral and illegal actions of Kyiv authorities concerning placement of gambling machines with the inscription "Beneficial Prize "Stolytsia" in the crowded places of the capital, especially near the entrances to the underground stations".
"The stand of Kyiv authorities has surprisingly changed, as a year ago its representatives destroyed gambling machines and assured everybody that they would regulate the said sector. However, at present they make the placement of gambling machines obligatory", - stated M.Tomenko. He also stressed that it was not the first attempt to attract residents of the capital to the gambling business.
Since the problem is significant, the Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also addressed the Chairman of the Committee on Industrial and Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship with a request to submit the Bill "On Governmental Regulation in the Sector of Gambling Business" (Reg. No.3535 of 23.12.08) for the Second Reading as soon as possible. The said Bill was adopted as a basis on 26 December 2008. It regulates conduct and socially important restrictions of gambling business.
